Ikea Receipt to Return Items?
As of October 22, 2020, you should present the receipt to return items.
In case of not having your receipt with you, Ikea has other methods to find your purchase. You can show your Credit or debit card, gift card number, or order number (if applicable).
If Ikea cannot find your purchase, you can ask them to provide a merchandise credit for the lowest selling price within the past 365 calendar days. If you are polite enough, most probably they will.
Exceptions to the 365-Day Return Policy?
Yes, there are a couple of exceptions.
– Mattresses: If you buy a mattress from IKEA but it is not something you were looking for, you can’t simply return it for a refund.
You can exchange mattresses. However, you can only do it once within a 365-day window.

Can you return assembled furniture?
No problem. So, if you spend a lot of time assembling the furniture and change your mind after seeing it you can return it. Also, if you see a defect you can return the item.
Ikea is not going to ask questions. After you return it, Ikea will put the returned furniture in the “assembled” discount section for bargain shoppers to buy.
Ikea states that items have to be in unused and salable condition. However, the term “unused” is very subjective. Technically, if you assemble the bookcase and put a book on it, it is used.
Let us know in the comments below if you had any problems returning items to Ikea stores because of this.
Usually, IKEA is generous in what they consider as “used” and “salable” and takes most items back.
