This is how DSW Return Policy works: You can purchase items at DSW, return them and get a full refund to the original form of payment. However, these are the requirements you have to meet to get a full refund.
Return Policy Timing:
You can return items to the store within 60 days of the purchase date. If the item is unworn and you can present the receipt you can still get a merchandise credit after 60 days. Those who are DSW VIP Elite members have up to 365 days to return purchased items and get a refund to the original form of payment.
Condition: To return items, they have to be unworn and unused. Also, you need to have the original packaging to return items.
Documentation: You need to bring original receipts to return items. However, if you do not have the receipt with you, you can get merchandise credit in place of a refund.
Method: Items you purchase in a DSW store have to be returned to a DSW store. In other words, these items can not be mailed back.

DSW Return Policy for Online Orders
Customers get a full refund to the original form of payment for the items they purchase online. To get a refund they need to meet the following requirements. It takes 7 to 10 days for DSW to process the refund.
Timing: You can send your online purchase back by mail. However, you need to do it within 60 days of the purchase date.
Shipping Fees: You can either cover shipping fees yourself or use the FedEx label that is included in the online order. It will cost you $8.50 if you use the FedEx label and it will be deducted from the refund. However, those customers who have DSW VIP Gold and VIP Elite memberships do not have to pay a return shipping fee. Also, you can avoid the $8.50 fee if you purchase with DSW Rewards Visa credit card.
Condition: The items purchased need to be unworn and unused. Also, you need to return the items with their original packaging.
Documentation: First of all, you have to fill out the Return & Exchange form attached to your original invoice. After filling the form out, you have to include it along with your shipping invoice. You will need these documents to get a refund.

Exchanging items purchased in-store
If you purchase the item in a store, you have to take it back to the DSW store. Don’t forget the original receipt and packaging. DSW will proceed with processing your exchange as a refund and new purchase. DSW will process the exchange within 60 days of the purchase date. After 60 days, you will be able to get a merchandise credit for any difference DSW owes to you.
Exchanging items purchased at DSW.com
Items you purchase through DSW’s website can be exchanged for free. For example, if you pay by PayPal, you can take the item into a DSW store and exchange it. However, if you make a payment with any other form, you can ship it back to DSW. You will get a credit for the items you return and you will be charged for the exchanged item. To specify the exchanged item you can use the return shipping label and DSW will send the item to you for free. If you make the exchange within 60 days of the purchase any price difference will be refunded. The price difference will be returned to the original form of payment. However, after 60 days, DSW will give you a DSW eGift card in that amount.

DSW Gift Returns
If you purchase the item in a store, you will not be able to send it back by mail. The item that you purchase in-store has to be returned to a DSW store. Also, you will need the original packaging of the purchased item to return it. The item has to be unworn and unused. After meeting these requirements DSW will issue a merchandise credit for you.
Items that you purchase online, can be shipped back if they are unused and in their original packaging.
You have to pay the return shipping cost unless you receive the original paperwork included in your order and specify that you are replacing the item. Also, if the exchanged item costs less than your purchase, DSW will issue an eGift card for the difference.
